This has nothing to do with your post BUT latest clue on jeopardy "you'll be surrounded by south africa if you climb the part of the maluti mountains in this country" and thanks to you, I knew the answer haha miss you!! keep up with the blog!!!
Eric, my name is Dave Marquis and I'm a journalist in Sacramento, California and a friend of Dustin's mother. She sent me your blog. It's great! My folks were 'missionaries' back in the late 50's/early 60's in the Philippines where my dad ran a student center in Manila. In 1961, right after Kennedy started the Peace Corps, the deputy director for the Philippines moved in next door to us...and his kids became our buds. Anyway, fascinating to hear how it's going. Many of your vignettes remind me of my childhood years overseas. Look forward to keeping up with your experiences. Dave
For those who have offered to send me care packages, thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Since I always forget what things I've been wanting, I'm keeping this running list. If you decide to send me any of these things, please let me know so I can remove them from the list. I will love you even more than I already do.
1. Clif Bars - Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, or Chocolate Mint 2. Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans (sold in large quantity for good price at Trader Joe's) 3. Beef Jerky! (not slim jim) 4. Pistachios 5. Ice cubes
happy festival of lights, eric! are any of your students celebrating?

ReplyDeleteSounds like what you're doing is pretty amazing - tasking, but eye-opening and rewarding as well.
